For people starting out, I would recommend at least a RTG. I wouldn't recommend a Green or a 1.5/Yellow tail because colour development and appearance of the mature RTG is more rewarding than that of the Green etc. Considering that you will be purchasing a tank, filter and feeding your aro daily with the same amount of food regardless or RTG, Green or 1.5. It really make sense to start off with a arowana that will yield better result.

Ultimately, you should chose with the knowledge that your arowana will be with you for many many years to come. Saving few pesos for a slightly better arowana and then regretting for the rest for the 20-40 years of your aro's life doesn't make for sensible logic.
